The Sun Raises The Bar At Enugu Trade Fair
The Sun Publishing Limited’s special day at the on-going
Enugu International Trade Fair has turned out to be a record breaker in the
history of the fair.
According the President of the Enugu Chamber of Commerce,
Dr. Ifeanyi Okoye, “The Sun has contributed in raising the bar with their
participation and partnership in the fair.”
It was the first time a road show was used as a means of
mobilization, enlightenment and awareness creation by any participant as The
Sun train which took-off at its Enugu office in the popular Obiagu Road in the
Ogui New layout area of Enugu painted the ‘town red’ with The Sun colours just
as free copies of the newspapers were given out to passersby.
The train went through Presidential Road, Ogui Road, Okpara
Avenue and passed through the NYSC Enugu Office in the GRA area and into the
fair complex.
In his speech at The Sun Day, Governor Sullivan Chime who
was the special guest of honour announced that his government has allocated a
parcel of land as part of its contributions to make sure that the
administrative headquarters of The Sun newspapers is based in Enugu State.
He praised the quality of reports and packaging of the
newspaper, which he said has maintained a leading status in the industry
insisting that it was only wise that the land be allocated for the wonderful
enterprise.
The governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for
Commerce and Industry, Dr. Jude Akubuilo, called for an editorial space in The
Sun newspapers to showcase the things that are happening in the state.
“I want to tell you that any day I am going to work, the
first place for my news is The Sun, then I can add all the others. We ask that
the management continues on that robust growth and we welcome that.
“You may not know that not long ago, all the day-old chicks
used to be imported from the west, today Enugu State is exporting day-old
chicks to the west, to the North, to the South. So we want an editorial space;
Enugu is beyond politics, it is a place to be,” he said.
Also speaking, president of Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Mines
and Agriculture, ECCIMA, Dr. Ifeanyi Okoye extolled the unique style of
presentation and analysis of the newspaper as well as the quality of its
prints, which he said stands out.
Okoye who said the Chamber is proud to be partnering with
the ‘great and dynamic’ media house said, “there is no doubt that The Sun is
the most widely circulated newspaper in the country appealing to different
strata of the population.
“The Sun newspaper is blazing the trail as it is the only
media organization that has so far used the platform of our special day during
the trade fair to further deepen her interface with her customers and potential
audience.
“The ray of The Sun is indeed being felt in polishing the
Silver for it to sparkle more. Indeed, the Silver Jubilee of the Enugu
International Trade Fair is excitingly effervescent as The Sun has contributed
in raising the bar.”
The high point of the event was the unveiling of the
Oriental News by the representative of Governor Chime.
The Managing Director of The Sun Publishing Ltd, Mr. Femi
Adesina said that it is not by accident that the company decided to unveil one
of its special regional pullout publications during the fair pointing out that
the history of the South East is deeply rooted in Enugu.
He noted that for over 10 years since The Sun Publishing
Limited hit the print media industry, its titles-Daily Sun, Saturday Sun,
Sunday Sun and Soccer Star- have been the choice newspapers of the people.
“But we have much more to deliver,” Adesina noted. He said
if the paper must live up to its promise of being the Voice of the Nation it
should be able to cater for the distinct readership needs of the varied groups
of people in such a manner that it is the representative of the collective
voice of the Nigerian people.
“It is in this regard that we have developed five new
special pull-outs inserts in Daily Sun tagged- Oriental News, Niger Delta
Chronicle, Arewa, Middle Belt Today and South West News.
