APGA Confirms Obi As Ojukwu’s Successor, Dismisses Okwu
The National Executive committee of the All Progressives
Grand Alliance, APGA, has confirmed Anambra State governor, Mr Peter Obi as the
leader of the party.
Obi had later last year been named
the leader of the party by the National Working Committee of APGA waiting final
confirmation by the party’s NEC.
All NEC members of the party in a meeting held Saturday
evening in Awka voted unanimously for Obi to be the leader of the party.
Chief Victor Umeh, who presided over the meeting, stated
that Obi has been a good party man, and has done the party proud both in the
state and in the country, and has successfully written his name in gold in the
politics of the country.
Umeh said that the resilience which saw Obi reclaiming his
governorship position and other leadership attributes made him share semblance
with the qualities of late leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu.
The NEC which later raised an 8-point communiqué stated that
part of its resolution was the approval of 30 names as members of the BoT and
the review of its constitution.
NEC also approved the filling of vacant seats in NWC and
also went ahead to pass a vote of confidence on the leadership of the party as
led by Chief Umeh.
The NEC also approved that the BOT chairman and secretary be
made members of the NEC.
Meanwhile, the NEC disowned Chief Maxi Okwu, who within the
week proclaimed chairman of the party by an Abuja High Court, saying that he
was among those looking for means to eat where they did not sow
