Reliable information from Abia State
indicates that the grand reception given to the governor of Abia State, T. A.
Orji which ended without violence – according to accounts from eyewitness at
the event. Our source states that the event may have been sabotaged by the
opposition. The news following the end of the grand reception – which
was hosted and financed by the host community – indicated that a close relative
of the Orji family may have be shot by a security agent under the orders of the
Governor’s son. Carefully inquiry into the incident indicates that the news
report was false and fabricated.
They said that the
Governor’s son may have been the target of the shooting. As gathered, the said
shooting occurred after the event had ended and the governor and his entourage
already departed from the venue – including his son. As the governor’s entourge
approached the market junction – what appears a roadblock/traffic jam – stopped
the governor’s convoy to a halt. The governor’s relative who also served as the
Personal Aide to the governor’s son stepped out of the vehicle to investigate
the traffic jam. While the PA was out on the street - a massive crowd and/or
supporters of the Governor were trooping from behind – amidst cheers of “ochendo”.
Moments later the governor’s son stepped out of the vehicle – and was walking
directly in front of the PA – when a shot was heard from from the back of the
PA coming towards the direction of the governor’s son – the bullet struck the
PA who was standing directly in front of the governor’s son.
It was initially believed for the bullet to originate from a
police officer – owing to accidental discharge. But the police commissioner denied that it was accident discharge on the part of
his officers. He stated that the assailant fired only one shot. “It was not
us”. Immediately, the PA was taken into one of the vehicles and
was headed for the nearest medical center. According to an eyewitness source,
the PA was still breathing on the way to the medical center. “But he gave up
before we could reach“.
Within minutes of the newsbreak of the death of the PA, the
Igbere news network hurried to spin an angle to the incident – stating that the
governor’s son had shot his relative who also served as his close PA.
Eyewitness reports indicates the Igbere version of the story to be false and
fabricated.
