Real Madrid To Run A Soccer Academy In Enugu
Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) has described Nigeria’s ambassador to Spain, Mrs Bianca Ojukwu as a special envoy that has shown interest in the development of Nigerian youths.
YSFON president, Dr Nasiru Gawuna in a release made available commended Bianca for showing interest in the grassroots development of Nigerian football by wooing top La Liga side Real Madrid to open their academy in Nigeria.
Gawuna noted that Bianca’s move would be first of its kind to be taken by any Nigerian envoy.
“YSFON is happy that for once, a Nigerian ambassador is taking special interest in sports. Mrs Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu’s move to partner Real Madrid is to say the least commendable. It is a youth friendly initiative and we urge her not to relent in her efforts,” Gawuna stated.
The YSFON boss also gave a pat on the back to the National Sports Commission (NSC) for throwing its weight behind the project which would see Real Madrid run a soccer academy in Enugu in partnership with a grassroots soccer body in Nigeria.
Gawuna stressed that YSFON would continue to develop the round leather game at the grassroots level noting that for the country to continue to do well in football, good attention must be paid to catch them young programs.
