PDP Suspends Enugu SSG, Two Commissioners, Others for Anti-party Activities

The crisis brewing in Enugu ahead of the 2015 general
election assumed a new dimension Friday as the leadership of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) in Udi local government area of the state announced the
indefinite suspension of five officials of the state government for alleged
anti-party activity.
Those who were suspended include, the Secretary to the State Government, Patrick Okolo, Commissioner for Youth and
Sports, Chijioke Agu, Commissioner for Commerce and Industries, Jude Akubuilo,
Special Adviser to the governor on Education, Sunny Agu and Special Adviser on
Industrial Park Development, OAU Onyema.
There has been a running battle between Governor Sullivan
Chime and the Deputy Senate President,
Ike Ekweremadu, over the soul of
Enugu West senatorial zone in 2015. While the governor who hails from Udi
council is said to have declared his interest to contest for the senate seat
currently occupied by Ekweremadu, the senator on his part is yet to declare his
interest.
Briefing newsmen after a meeting of the 18-man local
government executive committee of the party in Udi council, the chairman, Hon.
Uche Ogbodo accused the affected officials of holding a clandestine meeting in
the local government whose sole intention according to him "is to destablise the party in the
council"
